Two give up in election battle

TWOcandidates selected to fight for the new Newton Abbot seat in the general election have stood down.

UK Independence Party prospective parliamentary candidate (PPC) Will Forrow and Labour PPC Jermaine Atiya-alla have both pulled out of the race.

Mr Atiya-alla announced his resignation on his Facebook page. Mr Forrow stood down for family reasons.

A Labour Party spokesman confirmed Mr Atiya-alla was no longer the Newton Abbot PPC but was unable to say why.

In the general election, the current Teignbridge seat, held by Liberal Democrat Richard Younger-Ross, will be broken up into two new constituencies following the Boundary Commission’s review into parliamentary representation.

The electoral wards in the newNewtonAbbot constituency include Bishopsteignton, Newton Abbot, Dawlish, Ipplepen, Kingsteignton, Shaldon, Stokeinteignhead and Teignmouth.

The new Central Devon seat covers Buckfastleigh, Bovey Tracey, Chudleigh, Haytor,KennValley,Moorland, Teignbridge North and Teign Valley.
